Hubungan Antara Paparan Opini Politik di Media Sosial dan Kecenderungan Spiral of Silence Pada Generasi Z di Kota Makassar

Perkembangan media sosial yang pesat telah mengubah cara Generasi Z mengakses dan merespons isu-isu politik, namun tingginya akses terhadap informasi tidak selalu diiringi dengan keberanian menyampaikan pendapat secara terbuka karena adanya kekhawatiran akan isolasi sosial. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis hubungan antara paparan opini politik di media sosial dengan kecenderungan Spiral of Silence pada Generasi Z di Kota Makassar. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode survei melalui penyebaran kuesioner kepada 400 responden yang dipilih menggunakan teknik probability sampling dengan metode random sampling. Data dianalisis menggunakan statistik deskriptif, uji validitas, uji reliabilitas, uji normalitas, serta uji korelasi Spearman Rank. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tingkat paparan opini politik di media sosial berada pada kategori sedang (67,5%), sedangkan kecenderungan Spiral of Silence juga berada pada kategori sedang (82,8%). Hasil uji korelasi Spearman menunjukkan adanya hubungan negatif dan signifikan antara paparan opini politik di media sosial dengan kecenderungan Spiral of Silence (r = -0,404; p < 0,05). Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa semakin tinggi paparan opini politik yang diterima Generasi Z melalui media sosial, semakin rendah kecenderungan mereka untuk menahan atau menyembunyikan pendapat politiknya. Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi terhadap pengembangan kajian komunikasi politik digital, khususnya mengenai perilaku komunikasi Generasi Z di media sosial, serta menjadi masukan bagi akademisi, praktisi komunikasi politik, dan pemerintah dalam mendorong partisipasi politik yang lebih terbuka di ruang digital.
